Switzerland is located in central Europe and is known for its lakes, landmarks, and Alps. No visa is needed but a passport is required and the national currency is the Swiss Franc. They speak German, Italian, and French. The best weather is from June to September. It’s more affordable in November than January to March, and the best time to go skiing is December to April.

Switzerland Culture

Some information on the local culture is that at a dinner party you should try everything and leave nothing on your plate. You should keep your hands out of your pockets when talking to someone. When greeting someone you should shake their hand firmly and use titles unless invited to use first names. When in public you should avoid chewing gum, littering, slouching, and shouting. Punctuality is valued so always be on time.

Some local food to try when in Switzerland is horse, saffron risotto, schnitzel, fondue and Raclette, Malakoff Fritters, chocolate, Rösti, and Älpermagronen.

Switzerland for Couples

Lauterbrunnen – Camping Jungfrau is located in central Switzerland surrounded by Jungfrauhoch, Schilthorn, Schynige platte, Trümmelbach, Brienzer and Thunersee, and Ballenberg Frilichtmuseum. This is a great site for activities such as mountain biking, paragliding, walking, and hiking during the summer. During the winter there are marked out routes for skiing as well as sledding and ice skating. On the site there’s a playground for children. Nearby there’s outdoor swimming pools, tennis and golf during the summer. Switzerland for Families

Caslano- Campeggio ai Bosconi is located in the South of Switzerland near Lake Lugano. The beach is a short walk from the campsite and the local village has weekly markets. Monte di Caslano Park is in an area that is protected due to its botanical characteristics which makes it worth a visit. Some more great family friendly places to visit is mini golf, the chocolate museum, the fishing museum and the Zoo al Maglio. Switzerland Families with young children

Eschenz – Camping Hüttenberg is located in East Switzerland between Lake Constance and the Rhine. On site there is a swimming pool and children’s pool, youth club, children’s play area and playing field. Some of the local attractions include Stein am Rhein which is one of the best preserved small medieval towns a short walk to the vineyards and a 12th century castle. The Rhine Falls is the largest waterfall in Europe where you can climb up the cliff – this is a short distance from Schaffhausen which is an architecturally interesting town which has been preserved since the Middle Ages. Some buildings that are worth seeing are the former Monastery and museum. Säntis is the highest peak in the area with views over mountains and the lake. A great place for children is Sea-Life next to the lake, where they can see some of the marine life close up. Conny-Land also has dolphinariums, sea-lions, a parrot circus, petting zoo, children’s bumper cars, wild-water ride, live shows and many more activities which are perfect for families.
