Freedhome is proud to be part of
Tottington Motor Company

Attending a festival is one of the most popular reasons to hire a motorhome. Here at TMC, we have many repeat customers who take advantage of our festival hire each year, whether it’s attending UK music festivals like Glastonbury or Parklife, or those in the rest of Europe, such as Oktoberfest and Primavera Sound.

And it’s easy to see why, with the array of benefits and convenience on offer. Hire a TMC motorhome for your next festival trip, and you’ll get to bring all the comforts of home along with you. This includes your own private toilet and shower (no need to queue!), a choice of comfortable beds, and plenty of other space to relax and unwind after a busy day outside. Our range can cater to couples, with compact 2 berth motorhomes, all the way up to bigger friend groups, with our 5 berth coachbuilt models.

And you can get all of this with few complications. You can just drop your car off with us in our secure car park, receive your detailed handover process (including a guidebook), and set off to enjoy your festival. However, due to the vastly increased demand, there is an extra Glastonbury charge for hirers. But this is the only festival we have an increase in price for. Otherwise, you can treat it the same as a regular motorhome hire.

Guidelines for Using a Motohome at a Festival

Here at TMC, we do everything we can to make sure hiring is a smooth experience. That includes giving you a detailed, expert handover process. If you’re attending a festival, there are some extra tips and guidelines to follow to make sure you have the best time possible. As part of the handover, we’ll let you know all of these and give you detailed, physical guidebooks. But you can also refer to here for some of the main tips below.

Keep an eye on the leisure battery - If you’re leaving your motorhome on during the day, be sure to check its leisure battery in the morning, afternoon and evening. If the reading is lower than 12 volts, turn off the engine for about 1 hour to let the battery trickle charge. We advise doing this until it reaches around 14.6 volts. It’s also important to keep the TV and other electrical appliances off during this time.

Be aware of how much fresh water the motorhome has – Whilst it’s important to keep yourself clean and hydrated during the hot festival days, be wary of using too much of the motorhome’s own fresh water. On handover, we fill this up to 100% capacity. If you’re using a lot of water, check the readings and make sure it doesn’t dip below 33%.

Empty your cassette toilet every day – It’s important to dispose of your toilet’s waste, either at nearby public toilets or any other authorised area. We recommend doing this at least once per day at a festival, in order to avoid any future mishaps. You should also add the blue sachet straight after emptying the toilet, and no more than once per day.

Being towed off site – If you need to be towed off site for any reason, make sure the motorhome is towed in a straight line. If it’s at an angle, it’s likely to cause some damage to the vehicle

Dealing with mud – You could be traversing muddy fields at your festival. It’s important to make sure you check and clean your footwear before stepping foot in your motorhome. Also, do not deflate your tyres when on you’re on a muddy surface, even if advised to do so, as this can cause a dangerous effect on the handling and even result in a tyre blowout.

Disposing of grey water – The most practical way to dispose of your motorhome’s grey water on a site (if you’re not parked over a waste grid) is to let it slowly drip out. Do this by opening the waste handle slightly. Only do this if your site allows for it though.

Keeping your motorhome safe and tidy – When leaving your motorhome, it’s important to keep it locked and secure. Make sure that after locking, you keep your keys safely on your person. When the festival is over and it’s time to go home, make sure the motorhome is clean and tidy before handing it back to us.

Finally, the most important tip is for you to have as much fun as possible of course. The above points are created to enhance your experience, and make sure it’s as easy as possible for you.
