Germany is located in Western Europe known for its beautiful cities, mountain ranges, and North Sea beaches. Its capital, Berlin, is great for art, nightlife and its sites relating to WW2.

German is spoken throughout Germany, although many people also speak English. No visa is required when traveling to Germany but a passport is needed. The national currency is the Euro.

Germany is a destination you can visit all year round, high season is between May to October, ski season is December to March, and October is a popular time to visit due to Oktoberfest.

Some local food to try when in Germany is breaded pork schnitzel, spätzle noodles, sauerkraut, strudel, and German beer. Some information on the culture in Germany is that Germans avoid shouting and chewing gum in public. Be reserved with compliments, keep your hands out of your pockets when talking to someone, and be punctual as it is highly valued in Germany.

Germany for families with young children

Kleinröhrsdorf/Dresden – LuxOase is located in the East of Germany. Facilities for children include indoor play areas, sand pits, caves, cable cars, and boats. On site activities include mini golf, and swimming. There are cycling and hiking maps for nearby routes as well the famous cycle route “Elbe River” which is accessible by train. In Dresden there are a range of museums, fortresses and castles which have special attractions for children. In Pulsnitz you can make and decorate gingerbread, watch cinema shows, indoor playgrounds, and indoor karting. There is also a sauna and spa on site. There is also entertainment at the campsite for all of the family to enjoy.
