When traveling to Austria no visa is required, but a passport is needed. The national currency is the Euro. The best time to visit Austria is when the weather is best, between April to October. It is busier between July to August and ski season starts in November and ends in April.

Some of the local foods to try are Wiener schnitzel, apfelstrudel, cheese dumplings, Sacher Torte, Austrian coffee, local beer and wine. A custom in Austria is to greet people with a handshake and direct eye contact. Women should offer their hand first and expect men to kiss their hand as a formal greeting. Austrians avoid giving and receiving compliments and public affection. They highly value punctuality. Shorts are not considered appropriate attire to wear in the cities.
